Listings often come back, and some sites are slow or difficult. Wait a few weeks, run a recheck, and send the request again if the listing is still there. If a site keeps ignoring you, the steps below can help.

The listing is still there

  • Give it time. Some sites take a few weeks.
  • Check you finished. Many sites only act once you click the link in their confirmation email. Look in your spam folder.
  • Check it’s the same listing. A site can hold more than one listing for you, each needing its own request. Your report lists every one it found.
  • Send it again. If a recheck still finds it, repeat the opt-out.

The listing came back

People-search sites rebuild profiles from new data, so a listing can return months after it was taken down. This is common. A recheck marks listings that came back as “Back again”, so you only redo those.

The opt-out page doesn’t work

Sites change their pages. If the link in your report is broken, or the form doesn’t load:

  • Look for a “Do not sell my information”, “Privacy” or “Remove my information” link at the bottom of the site.
  • Many sites also accept requests by email. Look for a privacy contact in their privacy policy.
  • Tell us at support@okoint.com, with the site’s name. We’ll update the link.

The site asks for more than you want to give

Give only what is needed to find your listing. If a site asks for an ID document, you can decline. Some sites ask but don’t require it. If it’s required and you would rather not, leave that listing and focus on the others: fixing the top items in your report breaks most routes to you.

State privacy laws

Some US states give residents the right to ask a data broker to delete their information, and some require brokers to register. If you live in one of those states, saying so in your request can help. We can’t give legal advice, so check your state’s own guidance.
