Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Oko Security LLC, which runs Oko Intelligence (“Oko”, “we”, “us”). They cover this website and the Oko portal. By creating an account, accepting an invitation, or using the portal, you agree to them and to ourPrivacy Policy. If you’re agreeing for an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and “you” includes the organization.

You must be at least 18 to use Oko. An organization that buys reports under a signed agreement with us is also bound by that agreement; where it conflicts with these terms, the signed agreement wins.

What Oko does

Oko makes automated reports that show a person what someone else could find about them from public sources online: on people-search sites, in old accounts, in data breaches, under their usernames and in search results. Each report explains how the results connect and lists fixes, with links to each site’s own opt-out page.

  • Reports are automated. Software and AI models run the searches and write the report. No one at Oko reviews a report before you see it.
  • We don’t remove anything. Each site decides whether to take a listing down. Unless you have the removal plan, we don’t contact sites or file opt-outs for you: you send each request yourself.
  • We read only free, public pages. We don’t buy reports, log in to sites, or search public records such as court or property records.
  • Reports can be incomplete or wrong. Sites block searches, change, or show details about people with the same name. Each report lists the sources it couldn’t check.

Search only yourself

Oko is for finding out what is public about you. This is the most important rule in these terms. You agree that:

  • Every email address and phone number you add is one you own or are entitled to use, and is yours rather than someone else’s.
  • Every past name and username you add is one you have used yourself.
  • The name on your payment or invitation is your own name.
  • You won’t use another person’s inbox or phone, even with access to it, to make a report about them.
  • You won’t open, share or read a report for anyone else, or let anyone else use your account.

We confirm every email and phone before we search from it, and we email every address a report searches from when the report starts. If we believe an account is being used to search for someone else, we may stop its reports, delete them, and close the account without refund.

What reports may not be used for

Oko is not a consumer reporting agency, and reports are not consumer reports. You may not use a report, or any total shown to an organization, as a factor in deciding whether a person is eligible for:

  • employment, promotion, reassignment, retention or discipline;
  • credit, insurance or housing;
  • a license, government benefit, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws.

You also may not use Oko, or anything in a report, to locate, contact, follow, harass, threaten or harm anyone, or to help someone else do so.

Your account

  • You sign in by a link sent to your email. Anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you, so keep it secure.
  • We email you after every sign-in. If one wasn’t you, use “Sign out everywhere” on your account page and tell us.
  • You’re responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your contact details accurate.
  • You can delete your account from your account page at any time. Deletion is immediate and can’t be undone.

The free exposure check

Each individual account gets one free exposure check, and each confirmed email address can be used for one only once. Addresses that reach the same inbox count as one: a "+" tag is ignored, and so are dots in a Gmail address. It shows counts only, such as how many people-search sites list you, not the details or where they are. Members invited by an organization go straight to the report their organization chose. We may change or end the free check at any time.

Credits and payment

  • Credits pay for reports. A full report costs 1 credit and a recheck 1 credit. The free check costs nothing.
  • You buy credits in advance through Stripe, at the prices shown when you buy. Credits don’t renew, and buying them never starts a subscription.
  • A credit is held while a report runs and charged only when the report is delivered. If a report fails, the credit is returned to your balance.
  • A report is delivered once it’s written, even if some sources couldn’t be checked. The report lists what was skipped.
  • Credits last 24 months from purchase. They have no cash value and can’t be transferred between accounts.
  • Refunds. Unused credits can be refunded within 30 days of purchase. Credits already spent on a delivered report are not refundable, except where the law requires. Email us to ask.
  • Deleting a report or your account doesn’t return credits already spent. Deleting your account gives up any credits left in an individual account.
  • Prices may change. A change doesn’t affect credits you have already bought.

The removal plan

The removal plan is a yearly subscription for individual accounts. Each account can have one plan. Organizations can’t buy it for their members.

  • What it includes. A full report when the plan starts, and a recheck whenever one is due. The plan pays for these, not your credits. Credits you already have aren’t used and stay yours to spend.
  • Opt-out requests for you. On the people-search sites we can automate, we send opt-out and deletion requests for listings about you, in your name.
  • What it doesn’t cover. Sites that need a phone call, identification, a CAPTCHA or more than the listing shows. Your report gives you the steps for those, and you send them yourself.
  • Sites decide. Each site decides whether and when to take a listing down, and a site may list you again later. We don’t promise that any listing will be removed.
  • Price and renewal. The plan costs $129 a year, paid through Stripe when you sign up. It renews automatically each year until you cancel. We email you 30 days before each renewal with the date and the price.
  • Cancelling. Turn off renewal on the Billing page in the portal (/billing) at any time. The plan stays active to the end of the year you have paid for, then ends. You can turn renewal back on before then.
  • Refunds. You can get a full refund within 30 days of your first payment for the plan. Email us to ask.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries again for a while. If it still fails, the plan ends.
  • When the plan ends. Requests we have already sent are followed through. Your Oko removal address keeps receiving mail from the sites for 60 days. Your reports stay in your account as described in our Privacy Policy. No new requests are sent.

Oko as your authorized agent

Before you pay, you agree, on its own and separately from these terms, to let Oko act for you:

I authorize Oko Intelligence to act as my agent and send opt-out and deletion requests to people-search sites on my behalf, using my name, the details those sites list about me, and an Oko removal email address.
  • For you only. We act as your agent for listings about you and no one else. The search only yourself rule applies to the plan too.
  • What we send. Only the link to the listing, your name and your city and state as the listing shows them, and your Oko removal address. Nothing else about you. Our Privacy Policy lists it.
  • Withdrawing. You can withdraw this authorization on your account page at any time. We stop sending new requests until you agree again. Withdrawing doesn’t cancel the plan or its renewal; turn off renewal on Billing to do that.

Organizations

An organization account lets administrators buy credits and invite people to get their own report.

  • Each invitation reserves the credits for the report it covers. An invitation that isn’t accepted within 30 days expires and its credits return to the organization.
  • Administrators may invite only people who have agreed to be invited, such as their own staff, using that person’s own work email and real name.
  • Each person’s report is private to them. Administrators see each invitation’s status, whether the report is finished, and a short summary of it: the exposure level, which people-search sites list the person, how many other sources they were found in, how many ways a stranger could reach their home, family, personal phone or routine, and how many recommended fixes they’ve done. Once five or more people have finished, administrators also see totals across the group, updated each time five more have finished. Administrators never see a person’s contact details or findings and must not ask anyone to share or show their report.
  • Group totals are subject to the limits on use above. They are for planning protection, not for decisions about individuals.
  • An invited person’s account is their own. They can delete their report or account at any time, and the credit already spent isn’t returned.
  • Larger purchases may be invoiced under a separate written agreement.

Acceptable use

You won’t:

  • break any law, or anyone’s rights, in using Oko;
  • access the portal by automated means, or scrape, copy or resell reports or the service;
  • try to get around our limits, confirmations or security, or reach data that isn’t yours;
  • probe, test or overload our systems without our written permission;
  • reverse engineer the service, except where the law allows despite this term;
  • create accounts to get extra free checks, or give false information to get credits or refunds.

Other sites

Reports link to other sites, including each people-search site’s opt-out page. We don’t control those sites, their opt-out processes, or what they publish, and we aren’t responsible for them. A site may list you again after you opt out; a recheck shows when that happens.

Our service and your information

You keep any rights you have in the information you give us. You allow us to use it to run your searches, make your reports and provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You may use your own reports for your own protection.

Oko, the portal, our software and the design and format of reports belong to us or our licensors. Apart from using the service as these terms allow, you get no rights in them. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account, or stop a report, if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, to protect someone from harm, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we’ll tell you why. If we close an account for a reason that isn’t your fault, we’ll refund unused credits. We may also stop offering Oko; if we do, we’ll give notice and refund unused credits.

Disclaimers

Oko is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that reports are complete, accurate or current, that following them will make you safe, or that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

A report is information, not legal, security or professional advice. Oko is not an emergency or protection service. If you are in danger, contact the police or emergency services.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, Oko won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Oko is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Indemnity

If you use Oko to search for someone other than yourself, misuse a report, or break these terms, and a claim is made against us as a result, you’ll cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts in Denver, Colorado, and you and we agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Before starting a claim, please email us so we can try to sort it out.

General

  • Changes. We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with its date, and email account holders about significant changes before they take effect. Using Oko after that means you accept them.
  • Whole agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy and any signed agreement with your organization are the whole agreement about Oko.
  • Severability. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a term, we can still enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You can’t transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
  • Notices. We’ll send notices to the email on your account. Send yours to the address below.
